More than 22,5 million tourists visit Greece every year, specifically in the summer months. During their stay a number of them may need medical assistance in dealing with health matters. Unfortunately, in many cases, despite the great efforts of the doctors, the nurses and the state itself, difficulties arise because of the geographical characteristics of the country. Therefore, there is a need for further medical assistance, first degree and/or secondary care especially in the remote but popular tourist locations. At the same time the language barrier, stressful ordeals in local hospitals and in some cases high costs of private healthcare create an additional sense of insecurity for tourists. Therefore, the HWB health card alongside the state’s healthcare system, creates a climate of trust and safety that provides the ideal solution for all tourists in Greece during their stay.
